Thought for Everyone

Question :

We refer to a 'home' enjoying the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi ('Lakshmi Katãsha'). In reality in whose home does Mahalakshmi reside?

H.H. Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Our Shastras say that Lakshmi lives in a home -

  • that serves the Sadhus,
  • that leads a righteous life ('sadãcharã'),
  • which is benevolent,
  • where the floors are cleansed with cow dung,
  • which has Tulasi plant, Bilwa tree,
  • filled with Sumangalis,
  • where lamp is lit at dusk,
  • where people are humble ,
  • where Nãma Sankirtana is performed,
  • which echoes with the sound of the Vedas,
  • where people are affectionate,
  • which is bereft of quarrels, tears, commotion, hatred, anger and torment.

Therefore, all such homes are ones that are filled with 'Lakshmi Kataksha'.
